For applicants thinking of applying to veterinary medicine in October 2021 for entry in 2022, the Veterinary Schools Council’s annual guide to entry requirements has now been published. This is the only resource that collates entry requirements directly from admissions staff in the veterinary schools.
Collating and publishing this information forms part of the veterinary schools’ work to widen participation in veterinary medicine and ensure that information about the admissions process is clear and easy to understand. The booklet highlights the common policies held across veterinary schools, including information on disability, widening participation and the use of contextual data in admissions.
There has also been consideration of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on admissions this year, with veterinary schools assuring prospective applicants that COVID-related disruption will be taken into account when considering applications to veterinary courses. In particular, UK veterinary schools have reviewed their requirements for work experience in light of the pandemic and applicants should refer to the guide as well as information on individual university websites for further details.
